You could replicate the little Porter dinkies using patterns from the Glover Machine Works collection if the Kennesaw folks would be agreeable. Glover cloned Porters.

There is a T&T coach at Nevada State Railroad Museum... long thought to be a Las Vegas and Tonopah car, its real identity was recently found by Wendel Huffman, the NSRM curator/historian.

The Nevada State Railroad Museum recently scrapped Tonopah and Tidewater 30, a 1906 wood chair car, built by the Pullman Car Co.

So, upon reading what I could as a non paying reader, I noticed a couple things....
1: the museum creator guy is not likely telling the whole truth....
2: there were others interested in it who were basically ignored...
3: as a state owned piece, it's quite odd that it was scrapped like that, with no apparent attempts to auction it, etc....

This brings up some unfortunate facts about a great many museum operations today,
Many of these museums have a "hoarder" mentality.....they seem to have a need to keep these cars, etc at near any cost when some one else wants it, but when it's in their way suddenly it's got to go right now...
I have seen a number of instances where a group of museum, etc went nuts spending to get a particular piece....because somehow they felt they had to get it....and they don't really have a need of it.....it doesn't run,etc....but they must have it....
Sort of like playing "keep away" on a larger level....

I'm absolutely certain I know at least two people who would have taken it, had they known it was available....

I've also never, as yet, known a state to not have a rather long series of hoops to jump thru when disposing of state owned property.....usually items have to go an auction and are offered to museums, etc to claim at little to no cost...beyond it from moving it...

The museum's statement sounds fishy....

I'm admittedly a little baffled by the "We though it was a Las Vegas & Tonopah coach but it turned out to be a Tonopah & Tidewater coach, and so it isn't significant to us." The T&T still operated in Nevada, and they are the Nevada State Railroad Museum. That would be like the Railroad Museum of PA going "We thought this was a DL&W car, but it's actually a Lehigh Valley car and so it's not relevant to us."

Did anyone ever hear anything about the half Doodlebug in Mexico? Is it still around?
