With all the changes to the initial list as evidenced by 7 pages published here in this forum since early 2014, is there now an updated copy of the IPH-owned list available?

Thanks!

After ME the car was used (owned?) for a time by the The Firefighters Education & Training Foundation, formerly known as Massachusetts Call Volunteer Firefighters Assoc., circa 2005...

Located a thread from July 28th, 2012 on Trainorders regarding the #312: http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?4,2829810

In that thread, Wade Pellizzer, who sold the #312 to Iowa Pacific, posted that the #800xxx-series number for the #312 was #800601 (as PPCX). In response to a question regarding the fan visible in the dome (see photos below), he also stated that:

vcrail wrote:
The fan was put in to ventilate the dome, as the car does not have functioning A/C yet. It has new compressors and condensers installed but still needs to be piped. We installed it to help remove heat from the car so we could work inside. When the A/C is in operation the fan will be removed, and glass installed like the Budd Co intended.

Found 2 additional threads on other forums regarding the #312:

Thread from September 19th, 2012 on the Indiana Railroads forum: http://indianarailroads.org/board/index.php?topic=11027

The car noted by the original poster "indyspy" was one of the ex-AT&SF full domes, however, in the third post "scraphauler" said the following:

scraphauler wrote:
Is it maybe an ex NP dome carrying SLRG 312 as mark/number? If so, this is a car headed to Whiteland to get interior work completed - it just came out of WSOR's shop at Horicon where it was painted. If not this car, then maybe this is a completed car to go outbound on Amtrak and the 312 will inbound in next day or so.

So, it would appear that the photo taken by Ed Ellis of the newly-painted #312 and posted in Trainorders which I had linked to earlier in this thread was from August or September 2012. That being the case, does anyone know if work on the #312 has been completed? I've done some looking, but haven't seen any evidence of this dome being in service.

Thread from October 14th, 2014 on the O Gauge Railroading forum: http://ogrforum.ogaugerr.com/topic/rare-find-at-the-up-yard

The original poster "boin106" in a follow-up message included the following info:

boin106 wrote:
Here is the history/info on the car. It was recently sold to an unknown buyer by Ozark Mountain Railcars:

Built by the Budd Company in 1954 for service on Northern Pacific's "North Coast Limited". Became Burlington Northern #1453 in 1967 and sold to Amtrak in 1971, retired by Amtrak and sold into private ownership. #312 was originally built as a 4 roomette, 4 single bedroom, 4 double bedroom, dome lounge (2 single rooms converted to a kitchen and 2 roomettes removed by current owner to create a master room). Rebuilding of the car to Amtrak certification has begun and some of the mechanical details include: Good body, both trucks have had a 40 yr inspection, OSSH, disc brakes, D-22 valves, A end frame has a crack but is easily fixable and engineering has already been done, 2-8 ton air conditioning units, rotating end cap bearings, good to great wheels, new rubber gaskets and glass except for tear drop windows in dome, floor heat in bedrooms and dome, new blower motor, folding walls in bedrooms replaced with stationary walls, kitchen (installed by NP), good side sills, side sheeting was removed and reinstalled, 250 gal fuel tank, holding tank, 1/2 of HEP installed, 1/2 of MU and 27 pin installed, main transformer installed, seller has a large quantity of interior hardware.

Matt

boin106 also included some photos of the #312. Here are 2 of those 3, both with URL links and as embedded links for viewing convenience:

Two nits to pick about the post to the O Gauge Forum. #1. BN was not created until 1970 so it couldn't have been renumbered in 1967, and #2. It never wore BN number 1453. While it was to be given that number IF BN's operations were continued beyond Amtrak's inception, it did not receive this number, except on paper. I have posted this info to the O Gauge Forum as well.

Of course. With the late mergers (PC, SCL, and BN), not every car received its intended number before Amtrak day, and with the BN in particular, some cars were repainted but not renumbered (for whatever reason, this was particularly true with the NP fleet). Also, there were variances with how cars were relabeled for the merger: with cars from the CB&Q, this consisted of the large plates with the BN herald and the new number, instead of the Cascade Green applied to cars from the other 3 predecessors (what's interesting is that CB&Q cars from the GN and NP pools did receive Cascade Green). And seeing as how there were relatively few cars which received the planned BN numbers, I am still trying to figure out the entirety of the planned renumbering system.

As posted by Jerry LaBoda on page #3 of the Budd Observation Cars thread (viewtopic.php?f=1&t=36247):

ACL #257 (Budd, Lot #9634-008, 1947, 57 seat club lounge observation) to SCL #5836 to Amtrak #3336, retired 3/1982 and sold in 1983 to Eagle Canon Railcar #800080 to West Virginia Central to SLRG #257, assigned to Cape Cod Central.

A Question on #257:

Did Eagle Canon/Potomac Eagle lease the #257 to West Virginia Central, or was it actually sold to WVC?

2 Additions:

IC business car #15 (Pullman, Lot #4466, Plan #3317, 1917) to USRA #67 to IC #15 renumbered to #1 (1st) renumbered to #9 (4th) Bette Junior to ICG #9* sold (when??) to Columbus & Greenville RY as CAGY #1 King Cotton (#800160) and assigned to the CCKY (Summerville, GA) sold 2012 to Iowa Pacific and assigned to the Saratoga & North Creek as SNC #15.

*The June 1952 IC diagram lists the renumbering to #9 and the sale to C&G, so was this car sold before the ICG merger? Listed as assigned to W.A. Johnston.

The #15 was one of three IC business cars built in Lot #4466. The other two were:

IC #3 (1st) to USRA #4 to IC #18 (1st) to #8 (2nd) to Sheriff Railcar Cripple Creek (#800138).

IC #17 to #7, now owned by the Monticello RY Museum.

The second addition is NYC baggage-48 seat coach #280 (AC&F, Lot #2730, 1947) built with fluted sides, now smooth-sided. Listed as retired by PC in 1971. Currently stored on the Saratoga & North Creek at Corinth, NY. Looking at some of the other cars stored with the #280, I'm assuming it is left over from the previous Upper Hudson River RR, so that being the case, are these cars now owned by Iowa Pacific or another party?

No. What you have to realize is that the original Columbus & Greenville was also a part of the creation of Illinois Central Gulf and it was dramatic cutbacks in service that forced ICG to turn the CAGY loose. They kept the two SD28s that they got from the original C&G, transferring a number of EMD SW1s to replace them. Best thing that could have happened with the C&G... life with ICG was anything but a good thing to the lines' customers. The sale of the car took place after CAGY left the fold.

I'm don't know the answer to that, but I believe that somewhere along the line that car was sold to Rich Kostura, who sold it to SLRG.

I don't believe this car is owned by the SLRG. It may be owned by one of their employees who bought it from the C&G and stores it at North Creek.
