| Post subject: | Seeking Donations to save a NKP wooden caboose via Indiegogo |
Fellow preservationists: We need your donation to help move, restore and display NKP caboose 1155. Constructed in 1909 at AC&F, it has been on display in various sites since the 1960's. It is no longer compatible with the focus of Meadowcroft Museum in Avella, PA. Vermilion, OH, wants it to sit next to the NKP station they are restoring. Grading, rail, ties, ballast and OTM have been donated, so all that remains is to hire carriers to truck it to Ohio. We have estimates for cranes and trucking of @ $5,500. Once at Vermilion, we envision building a roof over it with one or two sides closed to protect it from weather. There are minor car body repairs to be performed. The car needs to be repainted into NKP colors. If additional funding can be secured, we would make retro refits with such components as composite arch bar trucks, K style air brakes, restore the unique three marker light system, find older MCB couplers and rebuild the end steps to the original plan.
