Updates:

From an earlier thread (http://www.rypn.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=34851):

1. Santa Fe chair stored on SD&AE at Jacumba, formerly used by San Bernardino RHS. Does anyone know the identity of this chair??

From Steve Sandifer's list of extant Santa Fe passenger cars (http://web.archive.org/web/20090528104542/http://www.trainweb.org/jssand/Captive/CapSFPass.htm):

1. 52 seat chair #3087 (Budd, Lot #977, 1937) to NJT 82 seat commuter coach #3087 (1969) to Verde Canyon Railroad and named Laramie (1989). The VCRR renumbered this chair--does anyone know the current number??

See here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/totentanz/13904377038/sizes/k/in/photostream/ (Luca Terracciano photo)

2. Looking at photos online, it appears Verde Canyon owns four other Budd or P-S stainless cars which would appear to be of Santa Fe heritage. I have identified one other car, listed in the lounge cars section below, but the other three remain a mystery, due to VCRR renumbering cars, and their website (even an archived version) wasn't helpful. Does anyone have info on the cars owned by VCRR?? Thanks in advance.

3. 4DB-4C-2DR sleeper #1822 Regal Isle (AC&F, Lot #3358, Plan #9011, 1950) to Amtrak #2352 (1971) retired in 1981 and sold to unknown party, later (when??) to Jon Clark

4. 4DB-4C-2DR sleeper #1830 Regal Ruby (P-S, Lot #6757, Plan #4144, 1948) to Amtrak #2368 (1971) retired in 1979 and sold to R. Bryan and located at Midland RY Historical Assoc. (Baldwin City, KS)

5. Midland RHA also has a Santa Fe P-S coach (outfitted with snack counter) which is owned by D. Cumpton. Does anybody know which coach/chair this is?

6. 10RM-3DB-2C sleeper Blue-series (P-S, Lot #6757, Plan #4145, 1947) located in a field north of Topeka, KS. Sandifer lists this car as the Blue Grass (#208/Amtrak #2500), but Randall lists the Blue Grass as being scrapped in 1973. Could the car in Topeka be the Blue Grove (#209/Amtrak #2501)?? Does anyone know the identity of this car??

7. 10RM-3DB-2C sleeper #222 Blue Water (P-S, Lot #6757, Plan #4145, 1947) to Amtrak #2508 (1971) retired in 1979 and sold to Fillmore & Western.

8. Fillmore & Western also owns a Santa Fe P-S lounge. Does anyone know the identity of this car?

9. 48 seat leg rest chair #2822 (Budd, Lot #9613-135, 1953) to Amtrak #4816 (1971) to HEP #4705 (1980) retired in 1995 and sold to Rail Journeys West (Santa Clara, CA)

10. As of 1992, the Kiamichi RR in Hugo, OK, owned a lightweight Santa Fe lounge. Was this lounge owned by the KRR or by the Hugo Heritage RR (HHR)?? Does anyone know the identity of this lounge??

11. 52 seat chair #3162 (Budd, Lot #9613-001, 1946) to Amtrak #5234 (1971) to 60 seat coach #6041 (1976) to buffer car #10601 (1977) sold (when??) to Goode Company Seafood Restaurant (Houston)--restaurant cut the car in half lengthwise

From Phil Dohmen's website:

1. Turquoise Room short dome #500 Plaza Acoma (P-S, Lot #6836, Plan #7616, 1950) was acquired by Washington Central in 1993 for the planned Atlantic Clipper Dinner Train on the NYS&W. 1. 52 seat chair #3087 (Budd, Lot #977, 1937) to NJT 82 seat commuter coach #3087 (1969) to Verde Canyon Railroad and named Laramie (1989). The VCRR renumbered this chair--does anyone know the current number??

See here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/totentanz ... otostream/ (Luca Terracciano photo)

To the best of my recollection, the VCRR uses names in lieu of numbers on their rolling stock, since for all functional purposes the operation is insular and the rolling stock largely customized for their own use. I can't even guarantee that they don't switch names around like the RBBX circus reassigns numbers and assignments. They're not a preservation outfit; all their equipment is pretty much considered expendable and utilitarian. (Which is part of why I was surprised they didn't grab the gutted Santa Fe coach body in quite-nearby Prescott when it became "available" several years ago--see another thread.)

That said, my recollection (based on speculation, and possibly quite false) was that the "Laramie" and the other car seen on that siding in that photo both arrived from the Wyoming & Colorado along with the former Alaska RR FP7's, 1512 and 1510, purchased from MDT. I seem to remember both cars having stickers (visible next to the vestibules in the picture) with remains of the Wyoming & Colorado logo. I remember from a visit a while back that both cars were shoved off on that or another siding in "storage," that both were fairly complete and intact inside (unlike much of the VCRR fleet, which have been "tubed" and refitted with plush furniture and whatnot), albeit showing their decades of neglect.

"#503 Plaza Santa Fe to Amtrak #9353. Retired and sold in 1981 to Standard Industries, then (when??) to Jim Stephenson, then (when??) to Wayne Yetter-California Rail Tours #800392 (Plaza Santa Fe applied and leased to Branson Scenic [when??]). Sold (when??) to Wade Pellizzer-Virginia City Rail Corporation."

A correction - The 503 is still owned by California Railtours - which has owned it since 1986. Rode it in February and March between Oakland and Reno on the Reno Fun Train. In great shape all around.

The car has accompanied the Virginia City now and then on trips.

Following information applies to three ATSF lightweights; diner 1482, lunch-counter diner 1552, baggage 3419 and one MILW shell of FP7 103C. Source is Wayne Kerslake, son of J. W. Kerslake, who passed away 1970.
1970 - Moved on own wheels to Tea, SD, for use at Bucksnort Jct, a railroad theme restaurant.
1979 - Moved on own wheels to Madison, SD for use as display at Prairie Village.
c. 1981 - Sold by Wayne Kerslake to 1880 Town, 22 mi. west of Murdo, SD and located at exit 170 on I-90.

Lunch counter diner 1552 is in active stationary food service. Interior photo featured on 1880 Town website, see Diners.

Cars are coupled to the gutted shell of 103C (only piece lettered for South Dakota Central) on isolated track.

1474 Cochita was part of the Bucksnort Jct. display, but sold to the railroad museum prior to the removal to Madison, SD

Alex Huff, who once worked on the 1554 while it was on the Cadillac & Lake City and saw the 1555 on a New Orleans industrial spur c. 1972-73, adjacent to the TP-MPTofNO Race Street yard, where I sometimes worked. Ordered a soft drink in the 1552 at its current location.

I noticed a considerable number of cars sold to W. Silver & Co. in Texas, including Blue Gem, which I rode in 1951. Was W. Silver a scrap dealer?

Thanks, Alex, for the info on the cars sold to J.W. Kerslake!

Here's two pictures of the equipment now at 1880 Town:

Bob--

That would appear to be the case: of the 63 cars sold to W. Silver & Co. between 1965 and 1970, I do not have a single one listed as extant.

Cars sold to W. Silver & Co. by type/name series:

2 club lounges, 8 diners, 6 lunch counters, 1 chair, 10 Blue sleepers, 1 Indian sleeper, 1 Pine sleeper, 5 Regal sleepers, 21 Valley sleepers, 1 Vista sleeper obs, six 2-2-8 sleepers, and sleeper obs Puye.

I remember seeing and going through #905 Indian Flute when it was parked with a bunch of other ex Amtrak equipment on the Brandywine Valley Railroad. It was parked by the Brandywine River Museum. That line of cars eventually went to Lukens Steel in Coatesville Pa and scrapped. I remember it because it was in the worst shape out of all the cars, gutted and every piece of glass broken out of it.

Thanks, baldwin, for the info on Indian Flute!

Thanks, MRLX, for all the info!

Regarding #1498:

I think wires got crossed with the #1497. In my notes I have:

#1497 to Amtrak #8042 to Alaska RR #4842 to Denver Railcar #4842 (#800335) to ITAX to Gateway and scrapped 7-2011

#1498 to Amtrak #8043 to unknown to ITAX sold in 2006 to private owner in Iowa

Thanks for the clarification with #1389! I had noted WCRC/BC Rail #157 as the #1398, not the #1389! The following info comes from Stan Garner's #800xxx-series PV list:

Transcisco Tours initially named the #1389 Club High Sierra, but later renamed #1389 to Summit Lounge and Club High Sierra was instead applied to SP gallery coach #3703 which had been rebuilt to a club lounge-dance floor (#800532). The SP #3703 Club High Sierra (2nd) is now BNSF #40 Fox River.

Steam Generators:

Of the eleven steam generators converted in 1962 and 1970, three were in turn converted in 1982 to weed sprayers #199206-#199208. The #199207 was converted again in 1990 to geometry support car #86, and the #199206 and #199208 were sold in 1991 to Habco, becoming HABX #206 and #208. I have not figured out which steam generators were converted to #199206 and #199208, nor do I have the current statuses of either car. Does anyone know which steam generators were converted to #199206 and #199208, and the current whereabouts of said cars??
