Hello all,
I've been searching for some time for details of the type of taps used in the washrooms of Australian-built Pullman sleeper, AL1040, which I'm restoring at the Canberra Railway Museum. (Yes, the same place as Garratt 6029).
Attached is a drawing copied from the 1879 Car Builder's Dictionary, which I believe is pretty much what I'm looking for.
AL1040's water supply came from tanks beneath the marble tops and was hand-pumped into the sink.
Now, I know this is a real stab in the dark, but if you don't ask.......
If there's anyone in the wide world of American rail preservation who might happen to have something like this collecting dust and would like to donate to a good cause, I'd love to hear from you.
Just to make it more unlikely, I need three of them altogether!
I've trawled the internet looking for repros and there are plenty of the later style which relied on water pressure (compression faucets), but I doubt there's any market for the type I'm looking for.
So if anyone can help in one way or another, I'd be most grateful.
Cheers, Bob

Although the pump appearance is not the same as the 1879 illustration, perhaps an off-the-shelf marine manual lever pump faucet ("washroom tap") could be disguised by suitable brasswork? For example: http://www.boaterbits.ca/pdf/WS62.pdf and http://www.boaterbits.ca/plumbing/pumps/galley-pumps/fynspray-chromed-brass-boat-galley-hand-pump-faucet-2.html

Good luck with your quest!
