Mind blower, makes me wonder if you could put new temp trucks/braking and roll the by rail to their new homes, but there may be a restriction on car age (IE body strength) to allow that. IRM runs demonstration freight trains. For me the weathering makes the cars look perfect....heh

I see these boxcars and all I can think of is the epidemic of containers which has infested many railway museums I know.

Wouldn't boxcars like these be materially more attractive at a railway museum? Don't even bother to obtain trucks/couplers/brakes. Just plop em in a field, maybe on a lightly prepared foundation so they're not sitting in the mud. And then paint them properly - done.

Also boxcars can be lined up tightly in a row for either a privacy screen or a security wall. Containers cannot, due to the need to enter the end.

Conclusion: Get a bunch of these… for… storage.
