Interesting article on some of the surviving equipment from the Overfair Railway at the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco.

One of the other locomotives is on display in the lobby of the California State Railroad Museum. Mr. MacDermot had planned to built four of these 4-6-2 locomotives. but, he only completed three of them. The fourth one #1915 was never finished.

1915 also became the property of Mr. Albert B. Smith and he gave it to the California State Railroad Museum Foundation in August 1989. It was completed by the Sacrament Valley Live Steamers prior to being placed on display.

The book Little Railways of the World by Frederic Shaw (Howell-North Books, Berekely, Calif., 1958) has a chapter about the Overfair Ry.

The book tells us that the management of the fair did not allow the railway to operate on any of the high attendance days. So, the business from these days was lost.

The line also had a 0-6-0 tank engine that was used during the construction period. All of this equipment was built to 1/3 size, with a gauge of 19". A more common gauge for similar size lines at the time was 18"

Here is a link for a website about theSwanton Pacific Railroad.
The website has pictures of the other three Pacifics and a view of the 0-6-0 #1500 being rebuilt.
