Hi all,

As we tear farther into our 3 CN heavyweight cars, we have had problems getting the new window frames to stay up since we opted not to put the ratchet lock system back in. What are some of the systems you have used to keep the windows up in your heavyweights?

Thanks you
Preston

The fast and dirty is 'window sticks' pieces of wood, maybe 1 by 1, to prop the windows open. Not really the safest thing, though. I've seen some cast brass window latches, made by Strasburg, that will hold a window in one open position. Maybe they can make you a few sets.

One solution that I've seen is to attach a cable to the top of the window frame with a secure clip at the bottom that can clip onto the latch. If you're missing the latch then you might need to attach some sort of device on the window for the clip to fit into.

We drilled a small hole through the window track just big enough for a hairpin or "s" pin to slide in. I might be able to snap a photo tomorrow night.
