My 2 cents. The moderators should remove all of the fake posts at the 12:00am on April 2. I can live with you having your fun, but I would prefer to avoid it, and after the 1st is past it should be done.

I could live with the requirement that the posters, on April 2nd, have to post "APRIL FOOL!" to their original submission. Then someone coming along months or years later, that doesn't notice the date of the original posting, won't ever post "whatever happened to.....?" This way we would all know for certain which of these cleverly thought out ideas were just in the authors imagination.

And those are MY 2 cents.

How about slide them over to the Railfaning board and tag the title with "[April Fools]" or something similar?

I'd like to see them put in a place titled "FANTASY" as well as being tagged as [April Fools]

Two major problems with the annual April fools day posts here and on other railfan forums:

1. Everyone who posts one thinks their "joke" is witty, funny and clever..
but 99% of them so seriously are not..it's a major lame-fest.

2. it's been going on every year for 15 years now..its just really tired and old.
everyone knows the jokes are coming, so no one is ever fooled..and even worse than that, see #1.

Exactly.

Me, too.

I concur with the above posts. I consider them a total and pointless waste of time & space. If you need some humor, read the comics in your local newspaper. But it's clear we'll have April 1st entries in the future. So, let's humor those who insist that it's just good, clean fun and then in 2-3 days delete them entirely. Way too many electrons are being held hostage by these April fool's posts. ;)

Consider the actual name for these bogus posts and don't blame April for them--the month is strictly an innocent bystander, a hostage as it were.

Off my soapbox now.

Thanks!
