Any update on the current status of former CNR 6060? I've gone to the Rocky Mountain Historical Society page, but found no update other than a 2014 calendar. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong roundhouse? Just my opinion, but CNR 6060 and CPR 2816 need to get out on the rails again. I doubt anybody here would argue with that.

So is 6060 down for service?

I don't think CNR 6060 has been out on the open Canadian Mainline Rails since the late 1980s. It did doubled up with CPR 2860 "Royal Hudson" for bunch excursion trips between ALB & B.C. These many of been VIA Rail sponsored trips. Never did anything with CPR 2816 "Empress". Not sure IF CN nor CP wants steam on their rails at this time.

Yes it has. It went to Jasper on the CN main in October of 2001.

Thanks k5ahudson for correcting me about CN 6060. I wasn't sure if the steamer had gone elsewhere in recent years. Most of pictures and videos I've seen of this locomotive in action are circa 1986 from the Vancouver Expo 86 & 1988 on a doubleheader excursion with CP 2860.
