According to the figures in J. David Conrad's Directory, GLRR #40 is rated at 20,600 pounds tractive effort, slightly more than Dollywood's ex-WP&Y 192 at 20,100 pounds.

#40 was a good running engine and had no trouble pulling nine cars up the Loop's 3 1/2 to 4% grades.

Westside Lumber Shay number 8, is rated at 36,150# tractive effort.
