Just saw on Facebook that AoS purchased the 0-6-0 #105 from Orrville, Ohio.

Don't know about operational, but certainly not as derelict as some of their other recent acquisitions

I doubt it's been operational for many years. Tot he best of my knowledge the only standard gauge operational locomotives in Ohio are at AoS and Hocking Valley (not counting the theme parks).

Is it just me, or does it seem like the "abandoned steamer of the month" generally goes to AoS? This is the third one this year that I've seen references to, and then a few weeks later it comes out that it's headed to JJJ's roundhouse.

This is clearly not the case - many or in operation all around the world.

Ha, when I wrote that I meant "in Ohio". I've updated my previous post. Sorry.

I don't see a problem with that, at least at AoS, the locomotives will be under cover and have a better chance of possible restoration. I hope he rescues many more "abandoned steamers of the month".

Appears to be a MRHF of Cleveland (Midwest Railroad Historical Foundation) gondola. Nice slide!!

As much as I admire the cute little Baldwin, I'm very curious about the heritage of MRHF gondola 401 in the photo. Could it be a USRA mill gondola, or a clone? Does MRHF (or somebody else) still have it? We preserve locomotives and passenger cars, but we often ignore freight cars, especially the typical workaday ones. There aren't many of these around. If it still exists, it is surely not a viable interchange car; but could be an important historical piece for a collection.

Cool vehicles aside, the gon has an ACI cartrack label, which date to the mid sixties, IIRC.

And here's another point to consider--all of these have been older 0-6-0s! One from Kentucky that's former Southern, one from B&O (and actually built for predecessor BR&P!), and now this one!

You would almost think Mr. Jacobson was getting ready to start a terminal company with such a collection of shunting power.

Hmmmm---there's that Pennsy 0-6-0 that's been looking for a home for some years now. . .and there are two NKP (ex-W&LE) 0-6-0s around, and if I remember, both of them are on roller bearings. . .

Give it time. JJJ must read these threads and peruse Facebook like he's filling out his shopping list!
