Fenner has been a great advocate for our industry and a great leader in our industry as well. This is very sad news. Our thoughts and prayers extend to his family and all of his employees at the Boone and Scenic. Fenner will be very missed at the next TRAIN/ARM Convention......

Yes, Fenner will be missed.

Correction and for the record. ARM & TRAIN no longer exist. They were merged in 2014 to become the Association of Tourist Railroads and Railway Museums.

Thanks!

Yes this is very sad news. A total shock to everyone at the Boone & Scenic Valley. This last Saturday I was on the property for the motorcar excursion as well as helping move the steam locomotive around and help to get it ready for the winter. That morning Fenner and I had a wonderful conversation about the railroad. As he was looking forward to retirement, he was hoping the best for the future of the railroad. We talked about how ridership was up for the month of October. We talked about our guest whistle program and how wonderful the last guest whistle off the M&StL 457 sounded. He talked about the night steam run and how it was neat to hear, in the dark at the Depot platform, the steam locomotive working as it climbed the hill some four miles away. But most of all he said he loved what he did and how Iowa has quite the little tourist operation.

Fenner will be missed.
