Our thanks to the Pacific Railroad Society for their donation of the former UP "Imperial Bird" Pullman sleeper to the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum. The car has been moved over the highway from greater LA to Campo. Many volunteers spent several days moving the car. Thanks to those volunteers for making this happen.

Details about the car can be found here:

That's an expensive move by highway and most likely needing at least one crane to load and one to unload. Did the museum have those funds on hand to pay for the move?

The Pacific Southwest Railway Museum has a list of equipment to be collected to round-out the collection. An intact light-weight Pullman sleeping car was on that list. It was jacked up onto and off of the dollies. Museum funds were used for the movement. PRS did not financially participate. PSRM tries to keep a pool of funds available for these types of activities. One never knows when a new acquisition becomes available and sometimes you must act quickly.

That being said - additional funds and donations are always welcomed to off-set these costs and future costs of movements and/or painting. www.psrm.org will lead you to a donation page. We thank you for your financial assistance. Joining the Museum is another good way of assisting.

Pacific RR Society (PAR) had at one point 2 Overland Pool Plan #4069H 4DB-4C-2DR sleepers: the Imperial Bird (as PAR #1/#800365) and the Imperial Cape. The Imperial Bird had been acquired in December 1969 by Ronald Graham for the PAR, and the Imperial Cape had been acquired in August 1971 as a parts source for the Imperial Bird and was scrapped later that year. Both had been built in 1942 by P-S in Lot #6668 and sold to UP on 12/31/1945.

Besides the Imperial Bird, PAR has recently donated at least 2 other cars to a museum:

IC 32 seat diner-8 seat lounge #4110 (P-S, Lot #6799, Plan #7585, 1949), built as 48 seat diner #4110 Shadrach Bond for the Green Diamond, name later removed, to diner-lounge in 1967, to PAR in 1971, later had #800373 applied.

GM&O 4S-8RM-3DB-1C sleeper Timothy B. Blackstone (AC&F, Lot #3208, Plan #9012, 1950), to PAR in 1970 as #2, renamed Golden Sunset, later renamed back to Timothy B. Blackstone, later had #800367 applied.

Both these cars were donated last Fall to the Monticello RY Museum.

Besides the #4110, Timothy B. Blackstone, and Imperial Bird, has PAR sold or donated any other cars lately, or are they planning to do so? (i.e., the titles of SP Shasta Daylight chair #2397 and articulated chair #2467-#2468, both of which are currently on display at Orange Empire, passing from PAR to OERM, or something of this sort?)
