The Age of Steam Roundhouse is quite a story.

I can add that the largest steam locomotive collections in the US are: the 29 at the Museum of Transport at St Louis, and the 28 at the Illinois Railway Museum at Union, Illinois

it sounds like to me AOS is ramping up to do some excursions, its just taking the steps to prep up for now. It sounds like...just wait...then kaboom!

Looks like AOS bought lien ridden Yreka Western #19.

A No.1 to Sugar Creek.

I guess YW19 must be in good condition and complete, if both Jerry and Dave were bidding near $400,000 for her especially with the cost to ship cross country to Ct if Dave won the bid.

I believe that this is the first Mikado in the AOS collection.

Well of course AOS bought it... Because why wouldn't they? Kudos to them though for putting another at-risk engine in a safe home.

It wasn't at risk. Two very good homes were in the running for it.

Never would have expected it to end up in the Midwest, but this is great news.

Willis Kyle offered me student trips on her in July of 1976 and the offer of a job. I did two days on the 19, but I was leery of leaving my current job even though it would have been fun to go booming. The lumber market crashed within a short time and the OP&E in Cottage Grove went belly up. Such is fate.

#19 made its last trip to Montague yesterday, from there it will be loaded on a flatcar and travel to Ohio:

I was traveling from California to Oregon today, March 17th, and drove over to Montague. #18 was loaded on a flatcar. This is a telephoto view taken from the public main street of town using my 12-year old digital "point and shoot" camera.

The car initials "KRL" stands for Kasgro Rail Lines. Kasgro Rail Corporation is a provider of heavy duty flat cars.

It begs the question 'Which steamers are currently on the to be restored to operation list?' I'm curious about the potential for the Berkshire and Decapod to see steam in the near future. It seems JJJ is slowly checking off wheel arrangements to add to his collection. Kudos to him for achieving what most groups never achieved in steam preservation!
