According to steamlocomotive.com, CP 453 is located at North Fork Lumber in Goshen, VA.

She's just the right size for a tourist line, too. Pretty little Canadian branch line locomotive to trundle a series of wooden cars down a remote, backwoods rail line. |

I am doubling the amount initially offered for the information requested - specifically the time line of (now) 4 former CP 4-6-0 steam engines : ) For all those that were able and kind enough to contribute - thanks! Timelines: CP 972 (Specifically run dates at Jim Thorpe) CP 1088 (Seems it ran only a couple of times) CP 453 Have bits and pieces. CP 1057 Is it running today - if not, why not and when did it run previuos? Thanks! /Mitch |

Hi Mitch, The entire operating history of #972 is extensive. She really got around during her Jim Thorpe years. I was with #972 the day she last operated. We were to do some audio recording for Mr. Hart, but the pool of water under that morning told a tale. 1986, I believe. #1098 only ran a few times in late summer/fall of 1994. She did make at least one trip out to Haucks. Just located buried in the Md, Rail Heritage Library files: Photos of Hart's 972 operating a celebratory trip on the former Northern Central south of York, Pa. on May 15, 1985 to mark the reopening of the line to New Freedom after post "1972 Flood"/Agnes washout repairs to the line. Train carried invited VIPs and was not a public trip, and was largely unnoticed by the railfan media of the time.

Great googly moogly! I saw those pics abvove earlier on via Facebook but only now seeing them full size recognize (barely!) the locations. Amazing shots - who'd have thought the buildings along the line would now be pristine while the engine sits apart mid-transformation into a PRR style loco! Thanks for sharing these! While I'm here, I suppose I should update the status of CP #1098, still in Port Clinton, PA, but now on display, or at least, in the front yard by the office and shops vs tucked away in the nearby roundhouse. One "slight change" - she's BLUE. She now matches R&N's 425 Pacific, though, if I understand correct, not quite the exact same shade of blue. She's now numbered 225, aka; Two and a quarter, a nod to the Four and a quarter, lol. Port Clinton, PA at the R&N headquarters on August 11th, 2016 - paint's a day old, I believe: /Mitch

Believe me, I'd be first inline to take a ride behind this locomotive, but from what I've heard, operational restoration is not in the cards at this time. It will, however, be towed to various on-line towns for display as the need arises. |

My late brother, David V. Leonard, photographed the 972 at Reading, PA in October 1983. At the time she was running excursions out of Reading, lettered "P. & R." (I assume Philadelphia & Reading).
