Wonderful story and thank you for taking the time to write this.

Somewhere around that time, I rode behind 2472 on a regular December Saturday Caltrain.
I told my wife I was just going to ride and left my camera at home. Parked the car and had a nice wait until that SP 6 chime whistle sounded to the North of me. A real thrill.

One of the very best experiences of my life. They turned the engine somewhere just out of San Jose and I rode back the same way. We were cooking, that's for sure. I got off in Burlingame where I had lived in the late 40's. My folks used to take me there when I was little to see the afternoon commute parade. Good times.

Thank you for the kind words, but I must say I wasn't the writer; that was E.O. Gibson, an engineer there at the time.

Ed has retired to Hawaii and has put away any time keeping devices...now relies on sunrises and sunsets to count days. He occasionally returns stateside to confirm his reasoning for moving to the Big Island.
