Hello Group,

I'm presently traveling with work and didn't have the chance to stop and take a photograph of a wooden Combine passenger car sitting along the side of Ohio 78 while traveling between Caldwell OH and Powhatan Point. The passenger car I noticed on the side of the road was roughly 40ft long and had a blunt end with end door on the "baggage" end, while the "passenger" end had an platform with curved overhang and a clerestory roof the entire length of the car. The car was sitting on cribbing as if moved to this location by movers at some point. The Car is painted white with a black roof. Please use the included Lat-Long on Google Maps and then go to street view and you will see the car.
The street view map is listed as 2007 so the car has at least been there since then.

39.788070 -81.313908

This location as a street address of roughly 28001 - 28161 on Ohio 78 listed as Summerfield, OH 43788

While the wooden car looks like it's had better days, I'm amazed its there at all and has lasted this long with us it looks like it's remarkably solid. What is it? What Railroad did it come from? Does it deserve a better future?

Thank you ahead of your time for any help answering my questions.

My notes say this is Ohio River and Western narrow gauge combination 29.

A separate note says that a gentleman by the name of Dave Adair and his brother did managed to save a car been part of a house along Ohio 78 west of Woodsfield, and now is at the oil and gas museum near Cambridge with several cabeese.

A photo I found seems to confirm that some kind of move was happening, but maybe it never made the trip?

I believe this info came from the ORW yahoo group:

O Anderson,

Thank you for your reply. That is the car I spotted along Ohio 78 this past Sunday. So it looks like the first part of your notes are accurate, please make note that the car is still located along Ohio 78 on cribbing as of March 20th 2016, not on display with other Cabooses in a museum. The close-up image confirms that one would have a fairly solid car body and even some of the Draft gear to work with for restoration or display.

I've signed up for the related yahoo group for the Narrow Gage railroad that used to operate this car. We'll have to see what the short and long term plans are for it.

Thank You again for your reply. This car is very interesting and what I would say is a very unique and rare car to still exist today.
