All Whitcomb diesel-electric locos have c/n's in the 60001-up series.

R. Tourret in his book Allied Military Locomotives of the Second World War on page 274 identifies the works numbers (construction numbers) of the 88xx locomotives as being:
8800-2 60515-7 1944
8803-11 60518-26 1945

Looks like only 12 of the original order of 110 were actually built. This was common at the end of WWII, many loco builders had huge cancellations take place.
