Did anyone else have trouble connecting to the forum over the last day or so? (I'm guessing it wasn't just me, as there was quite a gap in the posts.)

It was down or very limited access all day. I hope with the revamp, The BB software is updated to keep up with the server software.

Yes, it's been out. Maybe an administrator can tell us what happened.

I thank them for their work in bringing it back online and their ongoing efforts in maintaining the site.

All credit for RyPN's successful return goes to David Collison, who intervened in the system's problems and got it working again.

Many thanks to David for spending part of his holiday weekend fixing the problem.

Nice work.

WWF went down at almost exactly the same time, nothing came up when they installed the 'latest' software version; they had to restore from backup and lost Saturday and Sunday's posts. Could this have been a common-mode problem or an exploit attempt?

As much fun it would be to connect the two forum outages to some rogue state destined to destroy heritage railways in America - there was absolutely no connection between the WW&F and RYPN discussion forum outages. They didn't even appear to be caused by the same sort of error.
