| Post subject: | EJ&E caboose #549 and IHB caboose #10 locations? |
Elgin Joliet & Eastern caboose 549 was donated to Whiting, Indiana and is shown here in 2008 sitting near 119th Street in that city: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... id=3756605 The paint scheme chosen for display was the one that these 50 (numbers 500-549) 1956-built cabooses originally wore, with white lettering instead of the later green. Also displayed there with 549 was Indiana Harbor Belt transfer caboose #10, which was originally a New York Central caboose. Recently I went through Whiting at where I thought the two cabooses were displayed, but couldn't find them. Does anyone know where these two might have been moved to? Thanks! Les |

After being stored at the BP Whiting Refinery for many years, EJ&E caboose #549 was sold to the Mineral Range Railroad in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan last year. https://www.flickr.com/photos/kkaf/4998 ... 5-2iYw3pu/ Does anyone know where IHB caboose #10 ended up? |
