Nice save and restoration! So the journal box covers are decoration now?

Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator is good stuff too if anyone has trouble finding POR15, it's also easier cleanup and UV resistant.

And once again, we Pennsy fans owe you some kind of favor. Thanks, Scott!

That looks great! If I may ask for my own future reference, what was the approximate bill for the blast & paint? Imron is some nasty stuff to deal with.

I like the split identity.

Wondering who the original roadnumber was determined?
Been keeping a detailed roster of MBTA equipment and
after looking at the car for a few days, I could not determine
the exact number except maybe 222529.

Here are my notes on both ex-PRR cars:
W308 Sold June 2016 to Black River & Western (Ringoes, NJ)
W309 Transferred to MBTA Subway lines.

Notes: Both cars were inherited from a construction firm in 19?? Painted red with black lettering. Derelict since late Seventies and stored in old Yard 14 in Somerville, then later in Yard 21. W309 similar to W308 and was transferred to the MBTA subway lines (via Green Line at Riverside). Ended up at the Seashore Trolley Museum (Maine)

Per photo on NERAIL Photo Archives posted 11/16/11. Shows MBTA 2 as ex-PRR 222529. Caption also states MBTA 1 (ex-PRR ?????? was scrapped).

One of these cars, which was stored/derailed at the end of the Paint Track in Somerville, was moved 9/20/14 to FX Interlocking with all other cars on this track. Sold 6/16 to Black River & Western RR (N.J.). Moved 6/24/16 to the Valley Track at BET for loading on to flatbed truck. PRR stencil visible side of center sill and on one end.
Departed BET via flatbed truck 7/07/16 for the Black River & Western RR (Ringoes, N.J.)

Once again, Scott K proves the value of "just do it."

Congrats, again!

Everyone, Thanks for the thanks!

Rob, YES! "just do it" about sums it up. I tell people, you're welcome to watch but I am not stopping to Bulls&%$.

MEC_557, Yes the journal box lids are just along for the ride. Yes, POR 15 is a PITA to clean up and if you get it on you, FORGETABOUTIT! I'll have to check out the Eastwood stuff, thanks.

Jayrod, I've used this sandblast company before so they work with me, but expect to pay at least $10k, not including the paint.

Bigjim4life, Yes, I'll have the PRR starter set out for a night photo shoot after the new year.

Reading 900, The hopper doors worked when I got it. This car was pretty damn straight.

GP40MC2681, Sold to Pennsy Railcar Restorations LLC, not BRW. Here is a photo of the center sill car number. The 220 I could read easily and it came through on other parts of the car too. The mystery was the last 3 digits. I carefully sanded the number one afternoon and reviled the 838. Tough to see in the photo but it was clear as day right in front of it. I also had several other people climb under to look and concern.

What it looked like when I first saw it. Yup! derailed at the end of the paint track.
