Unity Railways 1916 wood caboose 53A, former NYO&W 8323, left Pennsylvania Trolley Museum this morning headed for its new home at the Carrie Furnace historical site at Rankin, PA. It will serve multiple purposes there, but the good news is that it will be indoors, as all wood cars deserve to be. Further details and pix to follow. |

And then after some googling I went "oh. Right. It's at WRM, already in my world." And then I find there's another one at Winslow Jct. I guess URHS and WRM must have both caught it within 5 minutes of each other, like a Pokemon, so now there's two. So that explains how there are more 44‘s and other critters in preservtion than were ever made... |

Robert, The surviving O&W 44-tonner tale is rather interesting. The #105 was acquired by the O&WHS and will be moved to Scranton: http://ogrforum.ogaugerr.com/topic/great-news-for-oandw-fans The locomotive at WRM was initially believed to be #105, but it apparently is #101. For the record: #101 at WRM #102 believed scrapped #103 believed scrapped #104 repainted in as built scheme at SERM http://nyow.org/nyow104.html #105 headed to Scranton So three out of the fleet of five survive. And now one is "coming home." Not bad, not bad at all. Anyone want to update the O&W caboose list? There is a surprising number of them left with us, too. Rob |

We jacked the carbody up off the trailer yesterday with two beams, forty ties and two track jacks. Now ready for the trailer to go away and lower the carbody back down until the trucks are ready to go under it. |
