Former NJ Transit F40PH-2 4124, extensively remarked on in this Classifieds thread:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=39556

was spotted yesterday behind the motive power of a BNSF freight headed west out of Kansas City:

Its destination has not yet been officially confirmed, but the evidence strongly suggests that it will show up on the Grand Canyon Ry. interchange at Williams Junction, AZ shortly.

I believe the TrainOrders post lists this unit as 4129, not 4124.

4124 & 4128 were indeed purchased by Grand Canyon Railway. Shipping arrangements are in the works, but the locomotives should still be in Newark, NJ at this time.

TO wags believe #4129 is headed for Dieselmotive Inc of Walnut Creek, California.

I was wondering when you were going to get more of those. Congrats! Now are you going to neuter them with the Tier 2 cards to make them match the rest of the F40 fleet or did NJT already take care of that?

I just received word that 4 units were just picked up by Conrail in New Jersey. GCRX 4124 and 4128 are enroute to The Progress Rail shops in Patterson,Ga. I'd appreciate any updates as to their location if anyone happens to spot them.

Did you all contract Progress Rail to do work on these? I'm surprised you're not doing the work in house. I know what you're capable of.

I forget whether it was Progressive or not but I do know one of these group has an interesting f40ph rebuild concept where they use Dynamic braking to power the HEP when in use. I always wondered if solid-state rectifier it could be used for the 480v three phase power instead of running the engine at a constant RPM? Sorry I got a little off track here :)
