Here is one on the former Milwaukee Road Morton Branch in Elbe, WA, where WA Hwy 7 crosses over the track and the Nisqually River. Polson 70 is shown departing Elbe back in 2011.

Adam -

Terrific! Thanks. I was also able to find a YouTube clip of a train going by the signal as it operated. It showed a blinking yellow light and the "NO RIGHT TURN" blinked alternatively.

Bill -

Thanks. Somewhere I have some photos of the day we loaded the signal at Terre Haute. Do you have any of yours on display there at the Wabash Valley Railroaders Museum?

Metra still uses these signals at several points . . .

Here's one in action on the Metra Union Pacific North Line at the Washington St. crossing in Highwood, IL. The upper light flashes; the lower one burns steadily and says "NO RIGHT TURN". There's another one at the next crossing south. This particular example was made by Safetran, successor to the Griswold Signal Co. which made the original automatic gate installation at this location for the C&NW Ry. in the early 1950s. There were several more in this area 50 years ago, but many have fallen in favor of regular highway traffic lights or other traffic engineering improvements. All types are usually ignored by drivers if space exists to make the momentarily-illegal turn.

In case anyone was wondering, the gates have just gone up after the passage of inbound train 338 so the motorcyclists are proceeding, but the lights haven't quite stopped flashing yet. Got there just in time - good thing 338 was 6 minutes late today!

Peter -

Thanks for the neat, current, photo of this old Chicago and North Western signal. Very nice!

I recently blundered into at least two of these signs still in place along former WM trackage and Wabash Avenue in northwest Baltimore. Let me know if more info, data, etc. are needed--however, train travel past these signs is unpredictable at best.

Mr. Mitchell -

Thanks for that info. Nice to know that these particular ties to the old Western Maryland still exist.

I started this thread on the "No Right Turn" signal at Hoosier Valley back in September 2016. Another photo of that signal, from a slightly different angle, is included below. At the time, I hadn't realized that a visitor from California had stopped by the museum this summer and spotted the "makeshift" plate at the bottom of the signal, on the side away from the camera. A close up of that "makeshift" plate is shown in the second photo below. Our visitor stated that he thought he had an original, authentic plate for this signal. Then just recently, we received the plate and applied it to the HVRM signal. A perfect fit! Thanks to Mr. Phil Palmieri of OERM, for following up and sending us the plate. A very nice example of cooperation between museums!
