I've been doing some research on Cumberland Valley steam locomotives, and have run into the question of what colors their locomotives may have been painted. In later years, all of their locomotives were PRR built at Juniata and were lettered in the same style as PRR equipment. Some passenger locomotives were striped in a similar pattern to what is on PRR 1223 and 7002 today. My question then becomes whether anyone here has information on paint colors for the CVRR or any other subsidiaries in the early 1900s. Namely, I am wondering if DGLE was still used instead of black, and whether cab roofs and tender decks would have been red/brown as per PRR locomotives. A few example photos are below.
