Section of an Official Guide entry (circa 1909/1910) shown as part of the "Monson Today" thread, lists this railroad. General Freight Agent listed and Pittsburg, Pennsylvania which may, or may not be, the lines location. Kind of an unusual name. Anyone have any additional info on the line? Any surviving artifacts or property?

“Northern Liberties” was a independent borough adjacent to downtown Pittsburgh in the area now known as the Strip District. It was annexed into the City well before the Civil War. The Northern Liberties Railway was a much later creation and, per this webpage: http://pghbridges.com/articles/railroad ... eview5.htm
…was a switching road owned by the American Steel and Wire Co. Their plant was located between 14th and 16th Streets and between the Junction Railroad (B&O) which ran along the south bank of the Allegheny River and the Allegheny Valley Railroad (PRR) which ran on Smallman Street. The tracks are shown, but not labeled, on this map:

That area is a huge parking lot today.

There was also a entirely separate Northern Liberties in Philadelphia and the Reading’s tracks along Noble and Willow Streets near Center City were officially known as the Northern Liberties & Penn Township Railroad.
