The B&O Railroad Museum is hosting "Railroad Society Days" Oct.1-2.

Quote:
This inaugural two-day event showcases participating railroad historical societies, model train groups, museums and tourist railroads from the Mid-Atlantic region at the B&O Museum, the birthplace of American railroading.

This is a bit of novel outreach. I know the RR Museum of Pa. hosts weekends/days for certain Pa. railroads--PRR, Reading, etc.--and hosts the appropriate organizations at each, but I haven't heard of a rail museum doing a cross-spectrum "society meet-up." And, really, they should.

There were certain caveats: Groups could sell memberships, but not merchandise. Table prices were comparable to larger-scale model train shows, with extra $35 charge for electricity. Up to 25 additional membership admissions were available in advance for $10/person; why they didn't just offer card-carrying members of the participating organizations a discounted admission up to the first 25 is beyond me.

Is anyone going? (The Baltimore Chapter NRHS is.)
