Does anyone have the color codes used on REA delivery trucks from the late 40's. We have a IH KB delivery truck that will be undergoing restoration and would like to have this information to complete the project. Truck is local to the REA office in Wichita, Kansas

You might want to contact the Horseshoe Curve Chapter, NRHS. They restored a 1940 Chevy REA truck for the Railroaders Memorial Museum in Altoona, PA. Photos of the restoration are on the Chapter's facebook page. I don't know if their color match was exact, but the truck looks very nice.

any color ships you can break out on the truck? It seems like to me about a dark pine green.

Tru Color Paint, has a model paint called...drum roll... REA Green

There may have been a slight color change from the early trucks and later ones.

There is a lot of information on REA green here:

This information was extracted from the the George Rust data base.

Most of the sources I've run across state DuPont 83-4474 for the dark green and 83-909 for the red stripes. Most automotive paint suppliers should be able to cross reference to current formulations though it may not be a dead-on exact match. These were probably REA spec'd colors as I haven't seen these codes in the manufacturers historic color databases. Keep in mind that in 1960, they switched to a lighter green.
