We had earlier discussed (maybe "mocked" is a better word?) the incorporation of Pokemon Go into railroad museum exhibits in an attempt to garner interest and visits.

Well, here's possible the next step:

I just saw a promo puff piece for this on a local morning TV news show, including a Thor-like character shooting padded arrows at a target in one of the unoccupied roundhouse track stalls.

Has anyone else done this? Do they "work"? Can you seriously present rail history amongst all this cheesiness? Does that even matter?

The Great Central Railway at Loughborough (UK) had a "Villains and Superheroes" event in February this year and I gather it went well.
They have diversified into quite a number of these "special" days that you wouldn't normally associate with a preserved railway, e.g. holding a Doctor Who themed Sci-Fi day in September.
The "Railfan" element is still well catered for during the rest of the year, so if this type of special event brings in revenue from those who wouldn't normally visit the place then it all helps the overall operation and mission statement.

Shore Line Trolley Museum's Branford (Conn.) Electric Rwy Ass'n. has run Super Hero Day in June for the past 3 or so years, as a means to attract young children outside of Hallowe'en and Christmas times.

Who has a unoccupied roundhouse stall?

Most museum roundhouses are so full you need to go outside to change your mind ;-)

Sounds like a terrible idea. When superheroes and infrastructure facilities meet, it's really bad for the infrastructure. Just ask the owner of the Nakatomi Building or the king of Sokovia or the facilities department at Starfleet.
