Calm down, calm down.

So far they're only offering ROAD vehicles--but that includes, at the moment, two hi-rail pickups and a boom-equipped truck, both going cheap so far.

Potential opportunity for an excursion line to pick up a MOW vehicle cheap-ish--but rail vehicles MAY follow soon. Maybe even retired F40PH locos?

Be advised that the registration process is straightforward but involves BOTH an e-mailed confirmation code AND a telephone callback or text to be entered.

And the correct entity to look for is not "METRA" in the Ms, it's "Northeast Illinois ..." (which is D/B/A METRA. Y'all probably knew this, but the instructions on how to navigate the Public Surplus site didn't say it.

There is also an active Metra request for bids to scrap original IC Highliner (aluminum) cars stored at Kensington, early steel bi-levels (CRI&P or C&NW origin) stored at Blue Island, and a few wreck-damaged stainless steel cars at the ex-CRI&P 47th St. shops. They've held two on-site bidders' conferences and extended the bid deadline a couple of times so far.
