Perhaps they are finally getting the rest. I would have thought crane expense would have had them load it all on a number of trucks but in fact that initial move was only the boiler. On Oct. 2 they posted on Facebook "The rest of the move happens this week" but it did not happen. It was all still there on Friday Oct. 13. I was starting to get worried about illegal scrappers.

Since we decided to take the frame and drivers together - they were an acceptable weight still paired - we applied for a new permit which meant waiting for the state to issue it. The rest of the engine, tender and reefer depart this week.

Kelly: This is exactly how we moved Maine Central 470. I do hope you'll share a photo-essay on the move. Please contact us off the Board if you care to.
Congratulations on giving 624 a decent home, and placement in the hands of those whole give her survival the best possible shot.

Richard

Thanks, Richard. We will - just wanted to get the rest of the pieces moved successfully before we beat our chest on it!

So were those trucks from the 624?
Or is there something else going through the region?

A couple of snaps from this morning. Reefer is now about where the engine had been. I stayed well back from where they were working so did not have the opportunity to ask anything. Gonna miss the old girl.

This is exciting and positive. However she's restored, she is in protective custody, and appreciated for what she is.
