Family lore has it that one of my great great uncles was an engineer on the Deep River #7. I have followed her restoration since about 1965. Just hope I live to see her run again.

Dan Markoff is just completed his 1472 day inspection (all tubes back in, State Hydro done, Federal Hydro in a few days) on Eureka and Palisades "Eureka" (Baldwin, 4-4-0, narrow gauge, 1875) so she will be able to travel beyond Nevada and California. She has been operating on a state certificate for the last 5 or so years.

What about Reading 2100? Are they hoping to have it operational this year?

They may have been, but even before the eviction notice and pending lawsuits, it would probably have been a stretch. It's all dependent on funding.

And speaking of Baldwin 2-8-0s built in the 20s, Sierra Railway 28 should return this year as well.

Can we hope that Saginaw Timber/Polson Logging/Rayonier 2-8-2 #2 might find some place to run in 2017?

And over in the UK, the Ffestiniog Railway 0-4-0T Welsh Pony, built in 1867, is expected to be under steam again for the first time since the 1930s, just in time for her 150th birthday.

Can we expect UP #428 at the IRM to see steam this year? I have a soft spot for these well proportioned steamers.

There is a push to get Western Pacific #165 running this year at Portola.

In a word, no. Though we've made a lot of progress, she still needs running gear, brake, and wheel work, just to name a few things. We are in desperate need of funds, so please consider donating to the project through the donations page at IRM.org. Funds will determine when she steams again.
