2016 Was such a great year... #1702 in North Carolina, #26 at Scranton, Shay #2 at Cass, #29 at Grand Canyon, #844, even theme parks got into the action with Disney finally seeing the Lilly Belle back! What is most likely for 2017? I know there are no guarantees but we should see #1309 in Maryland, #28 in Duluth, Santa Fe #2926.... anything else? I'm sure there are some I'm not aware of. |

I can think of a couple more... Shay 5 at IRM STC 2 at Mid-Continent, but only if they get their troubles sorted out Reading 2102 at the RB&MN shops I can't wait to see every engine returning this year under steam! Thomas Dyrek |

J&L 58 should be running as well by the end of the year, pending the boiler not taking too long. |

I'm looking forward to the return of Duluth & Northeastern 28 this spring. This photo is a little dated (June 2016), but it shows some of the great work that has been done to get this locomotive back into service. It was originally Duluth, Missabe & Northern (then DM&IR) No. 332. Repairs are being performed at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum, Duluth, Minn. No. 28 has been displayed there since the mid-1970s.

Cass Scenic Railroad has a couple of possibilities (though not necessarily probable) after they complete the 1472 on their two-truck Climax #3. Three-truck Climax #9 is somewhere near 90% complete. The Buffalo Creek & Gauley Consolidation #4 is possible, but the grapevine word is that it is in worse shape than originally thought. |

Deep River / Columbia River Beltline #7, the Skookum should be operational in 2017. It is privately owned but is being completed at the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad. It is a 2-4-4-2. Also, Craig Mountain Lumber Co. #3, a two truck Heisler will make its debut on the OCSR. Brandon

There is no set date on the 60's return to service, although work is underway. Its new tender tank is nearing completion. |

Yes she is, and here's her history from the Mallets in the Tall Timber page. Most interesting part of her history is that she was originally built for a railroad in the Deep South: http://loggingmallets.railfan.net/list/ ... ver126.htm http://loggingmallets.railfan.net/ http://loggingmallets.railfan.net/list/ ... 6Bldrb.jpg http://loggingmallets.railfan.net/list/ ... river7.jpg http://oldtomstoys.com/2016/03/19/baldw ... 2-skookum/ |
