Today the Wilmington and Western is running its first train of the year. A simple caboose charter. Seeing the crew made me think about how fortunate we are to have so many young people involved. We have a lot of good things going on at the W&W, but the one that might be most important is that we have many young people involved. The age of today's crew ranges from 23-26.

YES... it is our responsibility to welcome, teach, and occasionally tolerate young volunteers...

We have been developing a young, enthusiastic (sometimes too enthusiastic?) shop crew on the Nevada Southern Railway.

If you allow them the room to learn, the work they can do is wonderful... Make information available, but give them room to explore... and allowance to learn and occasionally make a mistake.
