This is the work of one man. We had a number of contributors for information and measurements, but ]this is Bob's work alone. He has been working on restoration of the automatic bell ringer, and has completed the cab reverser wheel. Credit where it's due. Thanks, Bob!

A few more pics with the smokebox mount and brackets holding a nearly complete lamp.

Be sure readers compare the DeWachter replacements (scratch built) with what he started with off the locomotive as found.
Bob will have one of the on display at the Amherst show. Please stop by the New Englnad Steam table to see them in person.

Heres a few shots of the classification light carcasses that we had as a starting basis.
The metal worms were hard at work. Both had sheetmetal lenses welded on and the bracket hangers have been removed and reused.

R Glueck - After you went and built those very nice repros, if you're interested and hadn't seen this, take a look at lots 64 & 65 here - https://www.auctionzip.com/Listings/3242660.html

Thanks for the heads up on the auction TrainDetainer. May have to attend that event as it isn't very far away for me.

Bob,
great job, surprised you didn't salvage the light switch knobs for the new lamps, even if you didn't install a switch. Did you stamp them to make sure future collectors know they are reproductions?
Keep up the great work,
Rich C.

Will check out the entire listing for possible hardware to rebuild 470. Thank you for the heads up. We are always looking for original Maine Central or B&M steam hardware. For the most part, they were interchangeable in practice.

Bob and Richard - the other auction place near to you to keep an eye on is Ron Pelletier's auction house. https://www.auctionzip.com/NH-Auctioneers/192.html Their next is in October (I haven't looked through the catalogue yet - it's usually finalized about a month beforehand) and they usually have two large RR auctions per year (other is usually April). Plenty of interesting stuff surfaces between them and JW's. Again, great job on the repros Bob.

This is welcomed information. The greater railfan community has been very good to the 470, having seen what she has to offer now that she's torn down and being evaluated.

By "evaluated", I mean a check list is being prepared for completing what is necessary to get her restored for long term operation. While some short cuts have been suggested, why do it half-way first time out, just to get it done quickly? As parts become available, people like Bob D. are actively working on getting things ready for reassembly.

Functional parts that require cleaning, calibration, and installation obviously make the process go smoothly.

Again, thank you all for your part suggestions, donations, and funding. You are all welcome to visit our shops during the year, preferably on Saturdays, and preferably with an email to make certain we can host you.
