Does anyone have any updates on the status of SMS (Former New Hope & Ivyland) # 9? It seems as though good progress has been made, and I know that some of the work for this project was contracted to Strasburg, but was wondering if anyone has heard anything recently?

Thanks
John

I recently saw some pictures from the indoor work area. She's coming along, lots of clean staybolt work. Backhead remains stripped as of the date of the photos, but the work continues. I don't think it'll be too much longer before you see her in steam.

IMHO, this was a terrific save. Stripped steam locomotives, sitting in the woods for thirty years, away back and out of sight, rarely fair well.

This is good to hear, thank you Mr. Glueck, and thank you for all your efforts with MEC # 470. Hopefully there will be a similar savior for # 1533, if the NH & I decides it is never to be part of their plans.

Let's hope CNR #1533 finds a friend.

Just a point of clarification regarding 470. I am one person in a larger community of dedicated men and women. This isn't "Glueck's Project". It's a much larger amalgam of dedicated, ferocious workers. It's even much larger still, as everyone who writes a check, buys a tee-shirt, hat, or poster, really owns a stake in the locomotive. I'm visible, but there are scores of other putting in their effort, time, and brains.

Back to #9.

Understood Mr. Glueck. I share my thanks with the entire team working on this beautiful locomotive.
