Post subject:  Waco, Beaumont, Trinity & Sabine Railway (Website)
This little railroad has been an interest of mine for several years. As time permits, I have gathered media and documents from the internet, books, magazines, and locals that have contacted via my Rio Grande Explorations website where I was hosting the collection. There really isn't much out on the internet, mainly due to this being an obscure little line that went from nowhere to nowhere and didn't do much on the way. Most of the locals have never even heard of it. However, the Texas Transportation Archive (ttarchive.com) has been an excellent resource and I encourage everyone to check it out. There is also a chapter in Robert Richardson's book "Chasing Trains" about his ride on the Wobbly. It's quite humorous.

Back to my point: I finally made the time to put together a website to house the collection I've assembled. It ain't much, but it's the only site dedicated to the ol' Wobbly Bobbly on the internet: WBTSrailway.net

Jason -

It's amazing to me that the last steamer on the WBT&S was preserved and is now in the museum in Galveston, Texas. My guess is that it's the only piece of equipment left from the railroad.

Good luck with your effort in keeping the memory of this little line alive.

Thanks, Les. As far as I know, #1 is the only surviving item from the roster. When the line shut down, the other rolling stock was essentially kindling resting on trucks. I doubt any of it survived the 20 years that #1 waited for rescue.

Couldn't find the website, which I imagine has a photo of the Texas Historical Marker describing the Wobbly, Bobbly, Turnover & Stop, or was it Wobbly, Bobbity, Turnover & Stop?
Been a while since I read the marker, but surely there will no more important topic on today's posts than the correct nickname for the WBT&S.

Thanks Jason. There's an outfit that I knew nothing about. I even checked my Texas
passes and don't have one. I wonder if they ever issued yearly passes?

Found two Wobbly passes - one from 1928 here http://tinyurl.com/znshns6 and one from 1931 in the Sept 2001 issue of the "Pine Bough" from The History Center, Diboll, Texas.

It was called those, and Wobble, Bobble, Turnover & Stop. I had a family member that was a retired Civil Engineer and a bit of a railfan, he retired to Livingston but knew all about it.
The WBT&S was - at least at the time - the longest bankruptcy in Texas history, lasting from the 1930s until operations ceased. I'm a bit curious if it was ever lawfully abandoned (with ICC [and possibly Texas State] approval), and how #1 survived without being scrapped like the rest of the line.

I haven't seen it yet, but have high hopes. I'll get down there in May to check it out.
