The Minnesota Transportation Museum has recently moved CB&Q Diesel Electric Motorcar 9735 onto display, this is a 1929 RPO - Baggage Gas Electric Motorcar, that the CB&Q converted to diesel with a 400hp Hamilton Diesel. This car has several oddities, including the plumber's nightmare cooling system that includes a auxiliary radiator in a RPO door.

But one thing I have never seen before is the use of Headlight bulbs in the electrical cabinet as resistors. Brings new meaning to the words "Light it Up".

Why was it done this way and does anyone know of any other examples?
