There was quite a bit mentioned in Steam Railway Magazine at the time they were over here regarding "offers" supposedly made for the Green Bay A4 which the National Railroad Museum turned down. Those magazines have long been passed on to other people, so I cant check back on the details.
When I visited Green Bay 6 years ago, I found the ex LNER Gresley teak sleeping car that is supposedly part of Eisehowers command train to be more worthy of "repatriation" than the A4, as I don't think any of those have survived complete here, unlike the A4's themselves.
It even appeared to have a full set of British Railways era bedding in each of the compartments!
