Over in the UK, there is a satirical railway enthusiast website/blog "The Bash Mash" that posts a lot of content on Facebook and other social media platforms. Think of it as The Onion for railway enthusiasts.

Recently, they had this little tome about armchair enthusiasts, who appear to be an international phenomenon:

Given the risk to the artifacts and the expense I can't see why anyone would do this.
