Post subject:  Light Fixtures for D&RG 470 Tourist Sleeper

In addition to the restoration of the 292 coach by the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad (see Stathi Pappas post from last month), the Friends are also restoring the 470 Tourist Sleeper (as described in May 2017 Trains Magazine Preservation Column) and also need to outfit it with accurate light fixtures. These are different than any others we've seen, as the car was built by Pullman in 1889.

We do have a potential craftsman interested in working with us to build reproductions, but the more we have to do our own "discovery" on dimensions and features, the more it is going to cost. Ideally, we would find the original plans of these, but we don't think that is going to happen. The next best thing is that someone here knows of another car that has similar fixtures. That would help immensely! Then we could draw up our own plans. See the photo below for the as-built design.

There is a lamp making project going on at the Nevada State Railroad Museum-Carson City.

They are doing V&T cars with different details; but they may be able to help with pattern making, casting details, and possible parts.
