See I would like to see a Blount locomotive restored. Or even F Nelson mentioned. Something smaller would be better.

Thank you, Alexander! You hit the points I was trying to parse out.

We all have our favorite Steamtown locomotives, less than likely to get the funding and mechanical crews to make them operate as once envisioned. I only picked 759, because of it's operating history, probably readiness, and appeal to a operating heavy-hauler.

The institutional difficulties of dealing with the National Park Service would be just about insurmountable.

Plus, I would suspect the NPS views their mission at Steamtown as conserving the artifacts for future generations, not providing them to fan groups to consume them.

Might be a long shot, but if you want a NKP berk and not necessarily 759, it might be possible to strike some sort of deal with the Age of Steam Roundhouse. They have a berk which supposedly they will eventually get around to rebuilding. They do let their CP Pacific off the premises for off-line excursions.
