Post subject:  CHICAGO GREAT WESTERN tank cars part II

I have seen the posts on the different colors of the CHICAGO GREAT WESTERN tank cars. I don't believe it was ever what color of tank car carried which commodity. I have a collection of N-scale car in the colors of orange, green, black and silver. So, I am particularly interested in these cars.

I copied and pasted this from the Chicago Great Western Railway Remembered closed facebook group, the question just came up, from someone who also is doing N gauge:

Aqua - Lube Oil
Black - Regular Oil
Red/Maroon - Diesel
Silver - Kerosene

I seem to recall that one of these CGW tank cars was preserved, but can't find the original post. I'll do a bit more digging.

Addendum - CGW #285, a maroon (red) painted 1957 built car is at the Boone & Scenic Valley.

There is a brown CGW tank car outside the UP training center in West Chicago, IL I believe its number 256. It was sitting at Morgan Street about to be cut up when it was decided to move it to the training center.

A brown car is probably one of the maroon diesel cars that faded.

Here is one of the lube oil cars, in Oelwein in 1993 (photo credit Conrad Baker):
