I watched a episode of James May toy stories which he did a model train race with a team of Germans in ten mile trip from Barnstable to Bediford on a former rail line. I know you shouldn't do that because you can wear out the motors and at a hostel environment. but I also thought why couldn't we the Americans do something like that but eleven miles to break the record with the Brits or any other country. I also wonder where could we do that in what area would good for something like that? any Ideas? let me know |

The Barnstaple to Biddeford 10 mile model rail extravaganza may be eclipsed by another attempt soon. It has been mentioned in the Railway press here that a TV company are intending to lay 74 miles of model track between Fort William and Inverness in Scotland. They have been asking for volunteers to help and it is supposed to be taking place sometime this summer! Watch this space.......... |

There are long sections of grade in the San Luis Valley in Colorado (basically straight). And there is a long section of straight grade south of Antonito that goes into NM for the former Chili Line of the D&RGW. Do it in the spring or fall and the temperatures might not be too bad. Doug vV |
