In 1973 as part of their 150th anniversary, the D&H borrowed Reading T-1 #2102 and modified it in appearance to represent long-gone D&H 4-8-4 #302. This included adding "elephant ear" smoke lifters and a recessed headlight in the smokebox door. I've always been curious about whether a new smokebox door was fabricated for this purpose, or if the original was modified somehow and then returned to original configuration. Does anyone have any insight about this?

Thanks, I've read that post before but didn't see the (implied) answer until you pointed out where it was.
