One of my many projects has been scanning 35mm slides for several RR Historical Societies, my current project will probably be in the 30,000-40,000 slides range.

I have been looking for ways to improve my work flow, one of my recent improvements was the purchase of a document camera, which I set over my slide viewer.

This is working well as it allows me to stop using my loupe and magnifying glass.

For this particular project, my job is to take the previously cataloged slides, number them, sort them, and then scan them. So all I need in most cases is to read the slide mount and compare to the index file.

So here is my desk with the camera and slide viewer.

The Camera is a Ipevo Ziggi-HD from Amazon and the Viewer is a Fodeco unit from EBay.

Looks good! What do you use for a scanner?

I use a Pacific Image Express PowerSlide 5000.

This uses Leitz 50 slot trays, at about 3 minutes a scan at 3600 dpi, I can work on other things for the 3 hours it takes to scan a tray.

Neat setup! I have a few thousand slides to scan myself. Just haven't found the time yet.
