Well, it looks like we finally have news regarding the restoration of Reading 4-8-4 #2100, by American Steam Railroad, in the roundhouse of the Midwest Railway Preservation Society. It looks like things are looking very good.

I can't wait to see #2100 once she is running again.

Disclaimer: I'm not associated with either of these 2 organizations. I saw the news through their Facebook pages, and I figured I'd relay the news.

We're happy this worked out well for both parties and stay tuned for more info on 2100 coming shortly.

Both organizations put out idential statements. Here it is, copied from Facebook, for those who do not want to go there:
Quote:
Cleveland, OH - Midwest Railway Preservation Society (Midwest) and the American Steam Railroad (ASR) are pleased to jointly announce that, after lengthy negotiations this past winter to resolve ongoing matters to the satisfaction of both parties, a term sheet has been signed by both organizations for the creation of a new lease. This will allow ASR to continue the restoration of Reading T1 steam locomotive no. 2100, in Cleveland Ohio.

To clarify the relationship between ASR and Midwest, both organizations wish to advise the public that ASR and Midwest are two independent railroad preservation organizations, neither having anything to do with, having any effect on, making any announcements for, or having any influence over each other’s business relationships or work practices. Midwest Railway Preservation Society is located at 2800 W. 3rd Street in Cleveland Ohio. ASR is going to continue sub-leasing roundhouse stall 2, outside track, and outside land from Midwest.

“We are very happy to continue being able to keep 2100 in the roundhouse operated by Midwest. The location has great accessibility to Class 1 railroads, short lines, and scenic railroad operators” said Steve Harvey, President of ASR.

“Midwest sincerely hopes that we are entering a new and fruitful period for both organizations. Additionally, Midwest also wishes to advise the public that we had nothing to do with any allegations, comments, or arguments that were made on social media. Again, we hope that we are entering a new era of co-operation. We wish ASR nothing but the best in their efforts to return 2100 to steam” said Donald Zeyer President from Midwest.

(emphasis added)

It's sad they had to include that last paragraph, but the online shenanigans of ASR and its principals warranted it. It's a shame those shenanigans drug Midwest through the mud.
