We were going through records at HVRM this past Saturday and came across a long rolled paper sheet of Erecting Drawings for the 2900 class 4-8-4's on the AT&SF. The paper has the following notations in the lower right hand corner: Office of Mechanical Engineer Topeka, Kansas 7-12-44 To the right of the above is a small Santa Fe herald with the number 52 above it and the number 142 below it. Above that herald and its number is a box titled "Date of Revision" which shows: 2-11-48 AS 7-3-48 HES At the top right hand corner of the paper is a box stating as follows: CLASS ENGINES 2900 2900-2929 The drawings show the locomotives at various cross sections. The entire paper is just under 2 and 1/2 feet wide by an estimated (by me) length of about 10 feet and is in very good condition. It's rolled up and could be put into a mailing tube. This might have been of some value for the folks in Albuquerque who are restoring the 2926, but probably not so much now as they are near completion of the project. Nevertheless, I'll be glad to forward the drawing to any museum or group, who might have a legitimate reason for its preservation, including as a display. Send me a PM if interested. Santa Fe Railway Historical & Modeling Society has a permanent archive location -- in fact it has two -- San Bernardino, CA and Temple, TX. more information here: SFRH&MS Resources and Archives |

Greetings: The Illinois Railway Museum has AT&SF No.2903 AND their Pullman Library (which has all sorts of non-Pullman drawings). Just saying... J.David PS: I'm on my way to Columbus and an NBIC meeting then on to "the worlds largest", I could pick them up on the fly... JDC |

For the record, the Class 2900 Santa Fe Erecting Drawings were given to Mr. Conrad today. He will be taking them to the Illinois Railway Museum which, of course, has AT&SF 4-8-4 # 2903 on their roster. Thanks to those who expressed an interest. Les |

The Pullman Library volunteers are at the Library 10-4 on Wednesdays. Other times are by appointment. Should our paths cross with Mr. Conrad we are very happy to make the drawing scans then and there to provide copies per request and/or by mail. Greetings: Sorry to bump this long dormant thread, but there has been speculation that IRM never received the subject drawing. Yesterday, (5/22/2021) I spoke with Tom Schneider, the head of the IRM Steam Department who confirms that IRM is indeed in possession of the subject drawing...
