Post subject:  And it's GON!!

After a year and a half of pure hell trying to get this car moved, the Niagara Railway Museum Inc. is pleased to report that the last gondola from the Toronto Hamilton & Buffalo Railway was moved to its new home in the former CNR Diesel shop in Fort Erie, Ontario. The car was retired in February 2016 after 50yrs of service. Other cars where scrapped once they hit their final destination, which was Hamilton, after hauling OCS scrap from out west. This car was marked to be saved and the NRM was approached by members of the TH&B Historical Society to help preserve the car. It was moved to storage in Welland earlier this year, where it was unfortunately tagged while in a "secure" area.

The move went fairly well, although there were a few glitches during the unload that we had to work through. We used OWS Railroad Contracting to do the move with their trailer they use to move the Mark IV tamper. We blocked the car and lifted it off the rear truck, then moved the rear truck on another truck (lots of trucks there...). It worked well, but I know what i'd change for next time. Anyways, at least the car is now safe and sound at its new home, and restoration will begin in the next month or so.
